There’s a lot to learn about advertising. It’s a complicated world of business communications, whether you call it advertising, public relations, strategic communications, or integrated marketing communications.
We’re all together in, broadly, the business of applied persuasion. And college students (hopefully) learn a lot in college. But they cannot learn everything.
That’s why I’ve launched #ADvise, an open discussion on Twitter where we can bring together professionals, instructors, and students.
I was inspired by the incredible success of Twitter conversations #journchat and #PRadvice, organized by the very impressive Sarah Evans.
The line between advertising and public relations is vague or invisible, and all are welcome here. Nonetheless, their are questions related to copywriting or art direction that might not come up over at #PRadvice.
Everyone is welcome!
So at 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Thursday, January 15, we’ll kick off #ADvise on Twitter. We hope you’ll be there with questions and answers.
If you have any suggested topics to cover, please leave them in the comments below.

I’m looking forward to this, what a great idea. I’d be interested in hearing what everybody has to say about how to market multiple clients via twitter and other social media. If you have clients that are in different industries, how do you organize all your different followers etc…Can’t wait what everyone has to say.

Great idea!
A bunch of my students will be there but they’re new to twitter. Is there a quick guide on how to connect to this chat room somewhere?
Thanks for the suggestion, Jennifer. I will definitely bring this up.
And thanks for the second, Harsha.
This is a very innovative idea.
To answer Harsha’s question, this is a hashtag type network. Where you can use Twitter Search to find all mentions of #ADvise and when replying include the #ADvise tag yourself.
