I am a very proud father today.
In the not-everybody-gets-a-trophy U10 Lubbock Soccer Association, my daughter’s team, the Shooting Stars, were undefeated and came in first place.
After today’s tie (their first of the year, but it did not affect the standings, and it was 106 in Lubbock today), they were presented with their trophies.
Chloé came so close to getting her first goal of the season, but it went just wide left. She has come so close so many times.
The usually unflappable head coach, Jeff Rumsey, even tossed his water bottle to the ground in disappointment when the shot sailed wide.

Here’s a bonus shot of the girls spraying Rumsey with silly string after the game. Given today’s heat, he may have preferred the traditional Gatorade/water bath.
