Day 127: Sometimes a Guy Drives Through Shot

Well, I’m outside playing with the sprinkler, a flashlight, and long-exposure photography, and that went pretty much nowhere.

So I move the tripod just to look at the sunset and see how it lines up. And this truck happens to just stop.

For yucks, I hit the shutter button, and he drives away.

And that shot ends up being better than anything I had planned, although I would do it differently if I had planned it.

Shot: Canon EOS Rebel T1i w/ Canon EFS 18-55mm

8 sec, aperture priority, f/32, ISO 400, focal length: 55 mm

Photoshop: auto contrast, lots of hue/saturation, slight crop

Day 61: Dog in Motion

Went to the park intending to shoot budding trees, and instead I preferred this dog.

I love the motion and the flying, albeit dead and brown, grass debris as it changed direction.

I snapped a few shots of the trees, but nothing I love. Will try again tomorrow.

Day 55: I Still Play With Blocks

A simple concept that took forever to execute.

I hated every arrangement of blocks until I added some clutter.

Sunpak Power Zoom 4000AF (old) bounced off the wall set at 1/16th.

Photoshop: saturation +a bunch (I forgot to take note).

Day 39: Smokin’ at Wal-Mart

So I’m walking back to get some organic milk at Wal-Mart today, and I got a really strong whiff of pipe tobacco.

No one was around me, so I forgot it, continued down the side aisle and grabbed the milk.

Then I smelled it again.

What the (heck)?!?!?!?

Then I look to my right and see this guy taking a puff off his pipe.

I reached for the phone, but by then he had stealthily gripped it in his left hand back to his side.

With iPhone in hand, I stalked him for a while, but, alas, away from the safe confines of the dairy case, he never puffed again.

So I took this lame shot and a couple other lamer ones.

All the while wondering “Who in the (heck) thinks you can walk around the grocery store smoking a pipe in 2010?”

People of Wal-Mart. That’s who!

Day 21: One Ugly Dog

Some dogs lead lives of comfort and luxury while others profit from fewer creature comforts.

This less-than-handsome soul accompanies his vendor owner to the Las Cruces Farmers Market on cold desert Saturday mornings.

A seemingly mellow soul, he sat and watched the crowds pass by without a sound, occasionally standing nose-to-nose to inquire about other passing by canines.

Day 20: Chompin’ on a Chip

LUBBOCK — This little kid was lovin’ his tortilla chip at Montelongo’s Mexican Restaurant.

Admittedly my candid camera iPhone shot over the shoulder leaves a lot to be desired, but the kid was awfully cute.

P.S. The dateline is just a cheap trick to force the text beneath the photograph, as the word “LUBBOCK” in all caps will not fit. I am sure there is a better way, but I don’t want to figure it out right now.
