My
Philosophy
As
an undergraduate, I had teachers who ran the gamut from excellent to
incompetent. When I decided that I wanted to be a university professor,
I decided that I wanted to be a good teacher in addition to a strong
researcher. Although I have no specific training in pedagogical methods,
my teaching philosophy is rather simple, but it has been effective.
This
approach worked for me training young writers at the student
newspaper at New
Mexico State, it worked with new sports writers when I was a sports
editor, it worked in the classroom, and it works with new graduate
students who come into our lab.
